Wife – Fruitful Vine – Monthly Promise – August 2025

August 3, 2025

Since the start of 2025, we’ve been looking at the theme of ‘bearing fruits’ – the manifestation of God’s promises.

You can read our previous monthly posts (each month focusing on a different aspect of fruitfulness) on our website: https://godslovemissions.com/

This month, I would like to speak about a wife bearing fruits.

Although I write the following focusing on women, it doesn’t mean men have less responsibility towards their family – we are simply focusing on wives (women) this month.

Psalm 128:3“Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house.”

Wife = Fruitful Vine

During the time this verse was written, Jewish homes had both olive trees and grapevines planted around their houses.

A vine tree in Jewish homes brought shade and comfort (merriment) to the family’s hearts.
Every wife becomes a shade – a comfort, a place of rest and joy to her husband and her family.

A few fruits a godly wife-vine bears:

1. Character

1 Peter 3:4“Rather, it should be that of your (wives) inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

Long to be a woman of character more than just outward glamour and beauty. Long to be more beautiful on the inside than the outside – not because your husband and family are worth it (sometimes they may not be), but because your Saviour is worthy of your gentle and quiet character.

If you are a woman waiting to be married or already married and you don’t have a gentle spirit, please begin to cry out to the Lord to help mould His gentle nature in you. Gentleness in a woman is a weapon. When the Spirit gives you His gentleness, He will not allow anyone to abuse that gentleness – so strive for it in prayer.

A quick prayer:
Dear Lord, help me live your values in this evil world. Make me an example to others in character. Fill me with Your Spirit and with the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

2. Children

1 Timothy 2:15 “But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.”

The unique gift women carry is the ability and strength to naturally grow a person’s early life within their own body. However, a wife becomes a true mother when she mothers her children – not just by giving birth to them.

Children are the mother’s (and parents’) first mission field. They are her responsibility, and she will be accountable for their spiritual, moral, and physical growth.

3. Builder of Homes

Proverbs 14:1 “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

Women also carry the unique grace and wisdom to build homes – not just physical houses made of bricks, but a home where her family feels they belong.

A home is more than just a house.
A home is a place where the wife or husband can’t wait to return after a long day at work; a place where children look forward to coming back after school or work. A house is not a home if the family wants to run away from it.

The wife bears the fruits that create bonding between members of the family.
So, as a woman, please stop sowing seeds of disunity and hatred into the hearts of your children, your husband, or other members of your family. You are called to build, not destroy.

Be careful what you sow in your children. If you are full of hurt, your children will grow up carrying that same hurt – which becomes a doorway for the enemy to operate in their lives.

4. Pray

Cover your husband, children, family, and business in prayers.

Proverbs 31:27“She watches over the affairs of her household…”

Be the guardian – the watchman – who watches and prays for your household.

Let’s Pray:

Dear Lord,
Give me the grace to be a wife of noble, gentle, and quiet character.
Help me birth and raise children who are valuable to You and Your Kingdom.
Give me the grace to build my home and family as an extension of Your Kingdom.
Finally, make me an instrument of prayer for my family – that I may foresee, watch, pray, and guard my home.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
