In HIS Words do I hope

Greetings to all our dear young brothers and sisters. I greet you and wish you all a blessed and joyous new year 2024. It is a privilege for me to write to you at the dawn of yet another new year. May the Lord bless you bountifully in all your endeavours. May our dear Lord Jesus continue to lead you, guide you, protect you and hide you from all evils and perils of life.

As we move ahead into the new year, the technology clock is racing far ahead of our time zones, catapulting the human race into newer realms never seen before in the history of mankind. The wheels of the fourth industrial revolution are grinding ahead in full steam. For your recap, the First Industrial Revolution moved away from animals and manpower into steam / mechanical; Second: Electricity/mass production. Third: Electronics and Information Technology. The fourth is the advanced Digital Revolution in the form of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Genome editing, Augmented reality, robotics and 3-D Printing, Facial recognition, Autonomous vehicles, quantum computing, medical diagnostics and procedures… to name a few.

It is stated that the present technological revolution will fundamentally alter: the way we live, work and relate to each other, in the scale, scope and complexity, unlike any other previous instances ( Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chairman of World Economic Forum). The most trivial part of this technological transformation is the ubiquitous fusion of “Physical, Biological and Digital” realms having cascading effects on LIFE itself as created by God. Even though this transformation offers innumerable benefits to us, it has far-reaching consequences and ethical imponderables in view of what is stated above. The immediate adverse effect will be in the form of millions of job losses worldwide affecting this time more women than men because of advancements in AI. The small device with unimaginable storage and processing power called the smartphone, in addition to our normal use, is smart enough to monitor our physical, physiological, social and even our mood patterns every minute and transmit the same to the service providers. This big data of millions of people can be engaged to bolster sales, induce consumer choices and even alter their societal behaviour in view of connectivity with “interest groups” across the globe (Eg.Whatsapp) instantly. Individual privacy can become a textbook word.

Technology per se is not bad. God has bestowed us with wisdom and has given us dominion over the things on earth. But any attempt to alter the nature /ecosystem/ social behaviour in an unnatural way devoid of any ethics is leading to the destruction of Institutions created by God like Man/ Woman/Marriage/Family etc.,……As there is no global consonance in the race with technology with centralized ethical control among nations, it has become more of a liability engulfing us all in a giant digital wave and threatens to pull us away from God and God’s ways (Psalm 1), and we may end up with losing our soul…

Always remember that our God is not only the Controller of events but He is also the Conductor of events. Whatever is happening is happening as prophesied for the end days. But remember that God always keeps a remnant of His faithful people hidden, under any chaotic situation….Remember the days of Elijah.

If you are in your school finals or a career aspirant, plan your studies and career well. Pray to our Lord and take His counsel in everything. Obey your parents and elders always. Excel in your professional stream, in whatever chosen so that you remain always employable. Read the Bible diligently and pray well. Our Lord Jesus is capable enough to preserve you and honour you in any chaotic situation. Always hope in His Word (Psalm 150:5,6)

“I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, Whose garment was white as snow and the hair of His head like the pure wool: His throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him: thousand thousands ministered unto Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: the judgement was set, and the books were opened” (Daniel 7:9,10)
