Is Jesus the Son of God or is Jesus God?

December 25, 2022

The better our understanding of who Jesus Christ really is, the better we can celebrate His humble birth.

Was Jesus a man?

Yes, without any shadow of a doubt he was a man. Even historians will tell us that there lived a man called Jesus. Jesus is so important that the world’s timeline is divided by His birth (B.C. & A.D.)

Here’s the next question?

Is Jesus the Son of God?

Yes. Jesus is the Son of God.

Jesus’s own words in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Father’s own words in Matthew 3:17 “And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.””

1 John 4:15 “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”

The most important question –

 Is Jesus God?

Romans 3:4 “…let God be true, but every man a liar…”

Man may lie, but God cannot lie. Let’s see what the Bible says – Is Jesus God?

A BIG ‘YES’

John 1:18 “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Apostle Thomas worshipped the risen Jesus, and said these words, ‘My Lord and My God’. recorded in John 20:28

Even the chief Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippian church, wrote these,

“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.” Philippians 2:5-6

Colossians 2:9-10 “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.”

1 Timothy 3:16 “Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:  He appeared in the flesh…”

KJV “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh…”

Yes, Jesus is none but God Himself in the human flesh. That’s the revelation on which the Christian Church was found: ‘God was manifest in the flesh’

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and her bodyguard Richard Griffin were walking the Scottish Highlands when they bumped into a couple of American tourists. Now the tourists for one reason or other did not realize that the woman standing right before them was the Queen of all of Britain and all of the Commonwealth. So, they started getting into general chit-chats. Eventually, the conversation turned into ‘where do you come from?’

The queen said we come from London. And so, the Americans said, ‘You wouldn’t have by any chance met Her Majesty the Queen before?’ The Queen replied, ‘Oh! Me – No! I have never met her, but Richard here meets her very regularly’

You’ve got to be kidding me the Americans said, and they looked at the Queen and said, Sorry Madam, would you mind taking a picture of us with Richard? We have never met anyone who knows the Queen and our friends back in the United States will be blown away when they see this picture. She did get their camera and took a picture of them standing with her bodyguard.

Can you ever imagine a situation where royalty is right in front of you, and you miss it?

Why did they miss it? Because they could only see a woman in her eighties but not the Queen of Britain and of the Commonwealth.

This is what exactly happens to a person who can’t see the Truth in Jesus.

Yes, Jesus is none but God Himself in the human flesh.

The very angels who worshipped God for thousands of years could not believe it when they saw the unseen, invisible, unapproachable God in the form of a man. The angels saw God as a man and one angel who was sent to the shepherds expressed his awe when he said, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14

God never became a beautiful Seraphim or a mighty Cherubim or any other race of His creation, but God became a man.
Hebrews 2:16 “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.”

Christmas is a time to celebrate God’s favour upon mankind. Who would have ever even imagined that the immortal and all-powerful God will one day become a part of the fragile and weak human race?

Merry Christmas
