The Fear of the Lord
My dear friends, it’s truly a joy for me to come in contact with you through this blog! I believe God is uniting an army throughout the world for the end times, to spread the fragrance of His grace and salvation .
But considering the kind of generation we are living in right now, as found in:
2 Timothy 3: 1-5
“ But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
In such a torn and marred generation, I was wondering what could be one virtue that would save us and keep us on track? And I felt the Lord gently say in my heart, “The Fear of the Lord.”
Yes my friends, there is truly no other virtue but The Fear of the Lord which can save us in such perilous times. Here are some of the blessings that follow when we Fear the Lord:
- Wisdom –
Read Job 28:12-28 where it talks about how wisdom has only been but a fantasy. Even Death and Destruction say, “We have only heard a report about it with our ears.” But the chapter concludes with The Almighty instructing man,
“26When He made a law for the rain,
And a path for the thunderbolt,
27 Then He saw [h]wisdom and declared it;
He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.
28 And to man He said,
‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom,
And to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”
I would like to guide you to a few other verses in line to this:
Proverbs 22:3 :
“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself,
But the simple pass on and are punished.”
Psalm 111:10 :
“ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.”
Proverbs 1:7 : “ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
- HIS Secret, HIS Covenant –
Psalm 25:14 : “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.”
- Revelation of God’s Word –
Psalm 119:130 : “The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.”
4.Generational Blessing –
Psalm 128:1 : “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in His ways.”
Proverbs 31:30 : “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Both the chapters mentioned above describe how a man or woman who has the fear of the Lord brings joy, happiness and blessing not just for themselves but the whole family and to their generations! Hallelujah!
- Life –
Proverbs 22:4 : “By humility and the fear of the Lord
are riches and honor and life.”
Praise be to the Lord Almighty.
But there are sometimes I do wonder : Is there any reward at all for fearing the Lord?
And as I read Psalm 73: 1-24 King David resonates the same – he wonders to himself as to how the wicked even curse the Lord’s name and get away with it sometimes but verse 17 says that all this was pondered upon until he went into the house of the Lord and understood what the Lord indeed had in store for the wicked.
The same is resonated by King Solomon, the wisest man there was, in the book of Ecclesiastes of how not being born was better (Ecclesiastes 4:1-3).
Sometimes we wonder the same, right ? When we are of with utmost truthfulness in our work places, treat people with utmost respect and compassion, do what our hand finds to do with utmost perfection only to see many others cheat blatantly and yet, they get away.
But my friend the Bible says, in
Ecclesiastes 12: 13,14 –
“ 13. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.
And also in Proverbs 17,18 –
“17 Do not let your heart envy sinners,
But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day;
18 For surely there is a [f]hereafter,
And your hope will not be cut off.”
My dear friend, as we are nearing the Lord’s coming, He has warned us that the last generation would be as the one in the times of Noah and the only virtue which will help us understand and walk with God is to live in reverence to Him. Seek for His help today and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with this character.
And for all who have spent your time in truly trying to receive God’s word there is a promise :
Malachi 3:16 –
“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who [e]meditate on His name.”
Your name is remembered before Him today.
Serve Him only.
God bless you.
