The Judge saw the Judgment
Praise be to our God the Father; God the Son; God the Holy Spirit
Greetings to you all my friends, who are loved by the Lord.
One thing that is always incomprehensible to our mind and heart is the Love of God the Father through Jesus!
We live in a world where even the intolerable sin, in God’s sight, seems to be very casual and conventionally followed.
In Deuteronomy 22:24, we see the portion of the guilty when they commit adultery. It is ‘stoning to death’. Such a portion is unbearable to human senses. And such a penalty, very well, portrays that how much adultery is abominable in His sight. Man, by his sin, has fallen from the Love of his Creator. He could not keep his God’s Law of Love.
Jesus said, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” – Matthew 5:28
According to God’s Law of Love, sin shall be condemned and judged. Because we read in 1Corinthians 13:6, “Love does not rejoice in iniquity”. God, in no means, can accept sin. It is highly repulsive to Him and it must be eradicated.
The world has innumerable evil doctrines for its own pleasures. We all were once of the world and we very well know what the world would teach!
The lust of eyes, which has been an evil, would be introduced almost in everyone’s life in the earlier stages of life.
Internet, the very platform where satan toils to ruin millions of souls; to take them to the eternal punishment along with him. Pornography, the intolerable sin has been a fashion and fun to many youth, even children of all nations.
What did God do to this case? We see the Lord Jesus’ response to adultery in John 8:7 where an adulterous woman was caught up to be judged according to the Law of Love. Jesus said, “…. he who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” Here the adulterous women receives pardon from her Creator, yet where did the righteous judgment go? Every sin has its own punishment; and every sin must meet its own punishment. Showing mercy to sinner and pardoning him had never set aside God’s righteous judgment. If God pardons sinner leaving His judgment then God could not be God of justice, because, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne” – Psalms 89:14.
Where did the righteous judgment go? Where?
Hebrews 2:9 reveals Jesus Christ tasted death for everyone. He was the only one who had the power and authority to judge that adulterous woman when the scribes and pharisees took her to Him. The stones that were ready to strike that adulterous woman, though it may seem to be fallen down as He forgave her, yet the same stones were all ready before the Son of God to strike Him when upon the cross. He carried in His body the pain and sufferings of stoning to death for every adulterer! Adultery through the lust of eyes may be a casual one in this world. But could mortals comprehend the sufferings of the Son of God for the portion of adultery alone? If the portion of adultery alone is this terrifying then we can imagine, to our ability, the overall infinite sufferings of Jesus on the cross! The display of the outstretched arms, of Jesus, fastened to the cross with nails very well symbolizes that how lovingly He saved all the adulterers from the judgment of stoning to death. Not only adulterers but every sinner from his own sins!
As sinners, we all must realize always that, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him” – Isaiah 53:5
We, abundantly, receive mercy without knowing its cost!
Jesus, being The Righteous Judge, could have judged that adulterous woman, even us to death but He saved her and us through His unblemished sacrifice on the cross. It was at infinite price He purchased all of us! We see Mercy and blessings in our life but what did He see? For our sake, The Judge saw the judgment!
Finally, Jesus commanded that sinner, “….. go and sin no more” – John 8:11
