THE PERSON OF THE LORD HOLY SPIRIT – THE THIRD PERSON IN THE TRINITY

“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:2

Greetings to all my precious friends in the beautiful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! It’s a brand New Month and the Lord has so graciously led us through ten whole months of this year! God is good. (John 10:27-30; Colossians 1:17)

This month bears a special message and it’s always exciting to talk about the Hero Himself! (Psalm 105:1-3) – it’s about a special Person indeed – the Lord Holy Spirit.

The Bible says in Genesis 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” There is a clear account of how ‘Man’ who was made out of dust became a ‘Living Being’ because of the Spirit of God Himself who was breathed into him, which was not the case with any other creation made before him. (Read Ezekiel 28:11-19 – creation of Lucifer)

Following the creation of Mankind, we see how they sinned against God and it proceeded to a state where the Lord Himself was sorry and grieved that He had created Mankind (Genesis 6:1-7). It says in Genesis 6:3, “And the Lord said, ‘My Spirit shall not strive with man forever for he is indeed flesh;’” and hence came the rift between being the most special creation due to owning the Lord’s Spirit inside of us to just mud filled with scar and sin.

We see thereafter that the Lord Holy Spirit came down on specific chosen people during times when needed the most to save His people – Israel. (Judges 6:34, 11:29, 15:14, 1 Samuel 11:6 etc).

This state changed when the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down to die for our sins on the Cross thus restoring and reconciling us back to the Lord God (2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 1:19,20).

We see thereafter during the time when the Lord Jesus was on the face of this earth, He constantly spoke of this special Person, this special Helper who would be given to us from the Father (John 6:63; 14:16-18). He promises specifically in John 14:17, “the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

 And the Lord fulfilled the above promise by doing something amazing for us, when He took the penalty for our sins and restored us back in fullness. And hence paying the price He then says in John 20:22, “And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

The precious Lord Holy Spirit whom Mankind had lost due to sin, was restored back to us again! Glory to God!

The Lord did not just promise us the indwelling of the Lord Holy Spirit. After breathing on His disciples to receive the Lord Holy Spirit (John 20:22), He also commanded them to wait upon the Lord until they were endued with power from on high! (Acts 2:1-4)

It says in Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The apostles have echoed what the Lord has taught us as well. It says in 1 Corinthians 6:19, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

The Bible also assures us that we have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

I really do wish we can go on and on about this beautiful Person who is so less quoted and yet He is The Life that we bear!

There is a short incident that would like to share in one of the men of God’s life, who was and is being mightily used by the Lord in our generation! Once he had an encounter with the Lord Holy Spirit so special, it is worth waiting in prayer for the same encounter! Remember, the Lord always sees the heart! (1 Samuel 16:7).

The story goes that the Man of God had gone to another town for one of his crusades and had time enough for prayer one day in the house he was made to stay. He had already spent hours in prayer and just then the lady of the house called him down for lunch. He winded up and was about to leave is when he felt Someone hold his left hand and say, “Five more minutes please.” Lo and behold! He knew in his heart that it was the Lord Holy Spirit gently nudging him to spend a little more time with Him!

I was astounded as I was reading this account as my Bible says in Genesis 1:2 that The Lord Holy Spirit is not just any other character in the Bible or some kind of force but HE is Lord God Himself and HE is GOD (Read Genesis 1:26,27). HE is part of the ‘US’ in the afore mentioned verse; HE is the Third Person in the Trinity! And it went beyond my understanding to know that this God who had created the whole Universe would be willing and longing to spend time with mere mortal humans! Hallelujah! God is good indeed.

My dearest friend, it would be the world’s difficult task to introduce this Person of the Lord Holy Spirit through mere words or a blog. But I do hope and pray that all of you reading this will start to have personal encounters with this beautiful Third Person of the Trinity! He is more mesmerizing and awe striking than we can possibly just imagine with our human minds!

HE is The ONE who can truly reveal the Heart of God to you! (Romans 8:26,27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-12)  

I pray that you will have a beautiful encounter with HIM soon. Praying that we will all be able to have a close walk with This Person of the Trinity!
