Importance of knowing and living the ‘will of God’ (new series)

November 18, 2022

God’s will (roadmap) is the only secure way to your success.

Today’s message is also Apostle Paul’s most repeated prayer for Christians. Why? It is because the great Apostle had a revelation that is able to help Christians grow in faith and witness wonders and never backslide.

Now, this is the secret for you to live a victorious life. A life that will not be overruled by sin or your enemies. The secret is: ‘Living the will of God’.

‘Living the will of God’ is simply to know the will of God and act on it. Romans 8:14

You can note a common prayer point in every epistle Paul wrote.

In Ephesians 1:17-18, Philippians 1:9-10, and Colossians 1:9.

Paul often includes one thing in his persistent and daily prayer for the Christians. It is for Christians to know God and to know His will.

Why is this prayer point so important? When people needed healing, deliverance, financial blessings, protection, etc. Why did Paul consistently pray for people ‘to know God and His will’?

Paul well understood that God’s will/plan for His children guarantees ‘healing’, ‘deliverance’, ‘finances’, etc. but just the ‘healing’ from sickness doesn’t guarantee God’s plan for a person.

So, if you can pray for God’s will or plan to be revealed to you and when you are rooted deeply in His will, you will lack nothing. You will find healing and other blessings very easy to access. This is because you are now like the branch connected to The Vine and you will without any doubt bear fruits that will last. (John 15:5,16)

Only in God’s will or plans for your life: You will always succeed and not fail. You will be the head and not the tail. You will find your healing, deliverance, finances, and marital blessings. Every promise and every blessing will come to you in the correct order.

Knowing God’s will is important but to ‘act upon it’ and ‘living God’s will’ is more important.

Lord Jesus revealed this in, Matthew 7:24,25 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

These eternal words are not just for the sermon on the mount, but the same truth applies to every situation in your life – marriage, children, employment, etc. – every facet of life.

When you build your entire life – family, work, health all according to the Word of the Lord and receive directions from the Holy Spirit and build your life on it and live it, you will be like the wise man who built his house upon a rock. The winds came, and the storm came, but his house did not fall.

Note that both the wise man and the foolish man heard the words, but only the wise put them into practice. So, not only should you be satisfied knowing God’s will but you must start living it out.

Also, important to note that the wise man’s life is not a life without wind, rain, or floods (problems & difficulties), but it is the great assurance of life remaining strong even after the floods of opposition. The same rains and floods came to destroy both the wise man’s house and the foolish man’s house, while the foolish man’s house perished, the wise man’s house stood strong. Halle-lu-JAH!

Your family will not break or die, your marriage will not fall apart, you will not be defeated in life when the floods come, and the only secret is to ‘know the will of God for your life’ and ‘act upon it’. Give Him all the glory for surely He will help you and never let go of you. You are dearly beloved and very precious in His sight.

Let’s pray:

Our Lord God, Please help me to understand the importance of knowing Your will and give me enough grace to live in Your will. Please let my ways be ordered by Your Spirit. Hear this prayer and bless me with the thirst to know Your will – all for the glory of Your Son our Lord, Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

So, now how do you know the will of God for your life?

(we will discuss this in the coming weeks)
