The Bridge…
Dear child in Christ,
Greetings to you in the name of JESUS
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1
It is such a joy to put our confidence in the Lord as our good shepherd, but the concern is : IS JESUS TRULY OUR SHEPHERD?
Whomsoever the sheep follows is the true shepherd. And if Jesus is your shepherd then it has to be that you hear Him and follow Him all the time.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:27-28
Following Jesus is not easy, because, as the good shepherd, the Lord disciplines(disciples) the sheep which may not seem to be pleasant. The bible says :
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11
However, the Lord disciplines the one whom He loves for our own good.
I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
Revelation 3:19
Therefore, a sheep that follows Jesus, yielding itself wholly to the disciplining of the Lord is the one that truly has Him as it’s shepherd and such sheep shall have no want. It will also enjoy the rest of the psalm. For surely goodness and mercy shall follow throughout eternity for those who follow Jesus.
Here is the bridge:
The Lord is my shepherd; (I follow Him and therefore) I shall not want.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for offering Yourself to be my good shepherd who suffered and died for me to save me from sin. Bless me to be your sheep that I will hear you and follow you always in truth.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
