HE alone is sufficient for me
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you” 2 Corinthians 12:9
My dear friend, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” ( 1 Corinthians 1:3 )
Oh, what joy it is to always have our God alone beside us as a friend and our father !
In this busy world where we are multi-tasking day and night to get our things done, I request you to pause in the presence of God for a few minutes. Pause, stay still, and know that HE is your God and in whatever you are doing right now, HE alone is sufficient for you.
Throughout the Bible, God has been sufficient to those who look upon HIM. One such character I would love to write to you about is king David. The book of 1 Samuel, 17th chapter records an amazing event of a youth going against a war veteran. Now king David was a shepherd in his youth then, who was tending his father’s sheep. When the Philistines camped against Israel, Goliath, a champion in the Philistine army, defied the army of Israel , and all of Israel was afraid to fight against the giant Goliath. When David heard the words of Goliath, he was willing to go against Goliath in the battle. Now Goliath, though being a giant, and had all possibility to defeat David physically, still came with his full armor, shield, helmet, and sword. However, David, knowing that HIS GOD is all-sufficient for him, just took five stones and his sling. Neither did he go in his strength, nor in the strength of his weapons, all David had was his GOD. Now, what are the chances that a giant will fall to his death with a stone? When David slung the stone, it penetrated deep inside Goliath’s forehead and he fell on his face to the ground. Have you ever wondered how much power the hit might have been? or what was the force behind this? The power or the force exerted by this stone was so great as to defeat a giant and such power only belongs to our GOD. No wind was able to resist or slow down this stone; no helmet or shield was strong enough to protect; no laws of physics or chemistry, could change the aim or the trajectory; for with GOD and with GOD alone everything is possible, Hallelujah!
Even today, we all have our own battles. Your enemy could come in his full valor, your situation may or may not favor you, and your own may or may not support you; but keep this truth close to your heart : Your GOD is all-sufficient for you, there is nothing more you will ever need ! Whether it is the battle to pass your exams or to feed your family, pause in HIS presence and let this truth sink in. The battle is HIS, and HE has given you the victory, receive it in all your battles of everyday life.
“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,” 2 Corinthians 3:5
Prayer:
My dearmost Father and loving God, I thank You for all that You have been to me. You, Lord, have given Yourself for me, and there is nothing more I need.
In all my storms and in all my calms,
You are my GOD, and
You alone is enough for me,
for ever and ever.
Amen !
