Count your blessings!

           Dearly beloved in Christ, God has bestowed us with uncountable blessings and talents. But, most of us today , not knowing the worth of our blessings and talents graciously given to us by our Lord are being swayed by the vanities of this world. But when we realize how blessed we are and make use of our talents for God, He will definitely bless us much more . We shall look at one such character from the Bible who glorified God with his blessings and anointing. 

            Let us turn our Bibles to the book of Daniel. Daniel was a blessed man who was faithful to God. Daniel and his friends were blessed in all ways. In fact, they were found talented and worthy to stand in the king’s palace.

“And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had an ability to stand in the king’s palace  and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.”

Daniel 1:3,4

               Though, Daniel was blessed and talented he was very careful and purposed in his heart not to defile himself. And, by doing so he found favour in the sight of God. (Daniel 1:8)

               God blessed them even more in knowledge and in all wisdom and Daniel especially had an understanding in visions and dreams. (Daniel 1:17)

                 God prepared Daniel for what was to come . When we are humble and faithful to God like Daniel, He will definitely give us the grace to escape all trials that are to come. 

 In Daniel 2 :3 we read that the king had a dream that troubled him much. He then called for all the magicians, the astrologers, sorcerers , and the Chaldeans and told them that if they failed to tell him both the dream and it’s interpretation he shall cut them in pieces and burn down their houses. The magicians , astrologers and all the men that were called to the kingdom told the king that no one except God can reveal the king both his dream it’s interpretation. The king was then angered and commanded that all the wise men be slain and their houses burnt down .

                When Daniel heard of this he went to the king and asked him to give him some more time to tell him his dream and it’s interpretation.  After this, Daniel went straight back home and shared this news with his companions and they all prayed that God would reveal Daniel the king’s dream and it’s interpretation so that they perish not. 

              Then God revealed Daniel the dream in a night vision and he went to meet the king . Daniel exalted and praised God in front of the king for revealing his dream and it’s interpretation. Daniel then told the king exactly what he had dreamt of and it’s interpretation. 

              The king then praised Daniel and set him ruler over all the province of Babylon and made his friends in charge of all the affairs of the province.  Thus, Daniel saved all the wise men in the city that day.

             This is how God exalts His children when we obey, love and honour Him. He prepares us to face the trials that are to come in the future. So, let each one of us live a life like Daniel, obedient and faithful to God.
