Patience of JESUS CHRIST (Rev 1:9)

January 23, 2020

Dears in Christ,

Patience is an important key to a victorious living in God’s plans.

Please read this–> https://godslovemissions.com/2019/12/23/run-with-patience before you read today’s post.

Rev 1:9 “I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The Lord JESUS Himself is the best example for patience. Jesus was patient in His daily walk when He was in this world. He patiently worked as a carpenter for most of His life. Although, He knew He was the Messiah He waited patiently for 30 years for the SPIRIT to come and rest upon Him and remain in Him. There were too many promises concerning Him and not one could be left incomplete but the LORD JESUS patiently waited for every promise to be fulfilled at the correct time.

Patience is also the nature of the Holy GHOST and is listed as one of the nine fruits of the SPIRIT.

God desires that we learn to live ‘patience’.

1 Corinthians 13:4 says, “Love is patient”. Patience is one of the attributes of love.

Also, if you carefully note John introducing himself to the churches from the island of Patmos, you will note that of all the titles John could have used to describe him, he chose to say in Revelation 1:9, that he is the church’s companion in the kingdom and patience of JESUS CHRIST. Rev 1:9 “I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The power of patience is known only when we live it.

Patience is important for so many reasons. Let me list a few:

  • JESUS said, Luke 21:19 “In your patience possess you your souls.”
  • In Patience posses your promises- Hebrews 10:36, “For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.”
  • Patience produces Godliness in you. Peter says in 2 Peter 1:6, “And to knowledge self-control; and to self-control patience; and to patience godliness”.
  • Finally, we need patience so we may be counted worthy for the Kingdom of GOD. 2 Thessalonians 1:4,5 “So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:”

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Please fill me with your fruit of patience that I will witness the power of patience in my ministry, in the various aspects of life and my family. Please continue to empower me to be patient so I will be counted worthy of your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
