Thorns for thoughts
Dearly beloved, Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah to the resurrected King of Kings who redeemed us and made us sons and daughters of God.
Jesus faced certain cruelties that were unusual even for a criminal who would die on the cross. And one among them is the twisted crown of thorns put upon His head (Mathew 27:29).
Now where did these thorns originate from? For when God created the earth and saw all that He had made, and it was very good (Gen1:31), there were no thorns upon the earth. It was only after sin when God cursed the ground, the earth produced the thorns. In Genesis 3:17-19, we see that the thorns were the consequence of the first man’s sin. In other words, the thorns were a curse to man and the earth. But Jesus took even this curse of thorns upon His head. Glory to God who bore every kind of curse that man deserved, upon Himself on the cross.
Dear friend, Jesus bore the pain of thorns on His head that our thoughts would be Holy and pleasing to God. But Are our thoughts pleasing to God? Are they Holy?
Ephesians 4:22-24 says
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
May the grace of God Almighty be with us and enable us to think Holy. Jesus bore the thorns for our thoughts.
