March Children’s Post – The Race
The Race
The air was filled with anticipation and expectations. Children with their eyes tightly closed were praying hard. It was the school’s annual day and the winners of the competitions held the day before were to be announced. Peter, who always used to top the 200 metres relay winners’ list, was pretty sure about his victory. But when the results were announced, he was shocked to know that he had secured the second place. He was very much disappointed and wept bitterly. Mark, his friend, tried to console him but failed to do so. Mark told Peter that the race was just a temporary one. He also said that life is a race which must be run according to the will of God and that HE would reward him if he fulfils HIS will.
Yes my dear friends, the race which Peter lost was temporary and can be won the next time. But life is a race which can be run just once. Our life’s ultimate goal must be to fulfil the will of God and by doing so we will receive the crown of life and can live eternally with the Creator.
In 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul says, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. Let us ask God to help us keep our faith and finish the race of life with a good end.
