What does GOD expect from us?
Beloved,
I greet you all in CHRIST’s name. GOD has earnestly feed us all through the previous year and has brought us into this new year; to Him be the Glory.
Let us meditate on “What does the LORD expect from us today?” The GOD who shed His own blood on the cross, died and redeemed us has an expectation on us as in Micah 6:8 below:
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
GOD expects these from us:
- To do Good
- To do Just
- To love Mercy
- To walk humbly before GOD
- To do Good:
The Bible says that to love others as we love ourselves is to do good as in James 2:8
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well
GOD desires that we love our enemies just like we love those who love us. (Mathew 5:44, 46)
Therefore, we should do our best to love everyone.
- To do Just:
The Bible says that, “You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.” (Deuteronomy 27:19; 16:19)
We are not called to please men but we are called to please GOD by doing good and by staying true in all things at all times.
- To love mercy:
GOD will be merciful to us on the day of judgment just as how merciful we have been to others around us.
The Bible says that, “For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”(James 2:13)
The LORD JESUS has taught us this by His parable in Mathew 18:23-35. We also see this is Mathew 5:8
- To walk humbly before GOD:
John 8:53, 54
53 Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Who do You make Yourself out to be?”
54 Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honours Me, of whom you say that He is your God.
Even the ruler of all, the SON of GOD Himself, does not glorify Him before men rather JESUS glorified the FATHER by saying, “It is My FATHER who honours me”. Likewise, GOD desires in us that we also glorify the FATHER GOD alone in everything.
Let GOD bless us with this grace so we will fulfill His desires and His expectations on in our lives.
