The Word from God

July 6, 2018

Genesis 3:5,6 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus.

If you take God out of the equation in the story of Adam and Eve it will not make much sense. Say Adam and Eve had a rigid inherent belief that eating the fruit will kill them, and knowingly eat it, and mysteriously find themselves out of garden. It does not make much sense. What happened there was a disobedience of a very specific word. See Adam and Eve did not kill or steal or destroy, but they disobeyed God.

See the devil is not concerned much when we sin, because he is well aware of the truth that Christ is able to make us stand. What he is specifically concerned and targets is the specific word you have from the Lord. He will do anything to take it out from you. His focus is not on you, it is on God’s word on you. We may acquire extreme success and riches which is God’s blessing on us. However if we had missed God’s word, our life is robbed of its meaning and purpose.

Several examples in the Bible reveal that, King Solomon had a specific word not to turn away or serve other Gods, and he ended up doing that. A man of God from Judah is commanded not to eat bread, drink water or go back by the same way he had come, and he ended up eating and drinking. Samson’s parents get a specific word from God commanding Samson to be a Nazirite and no razor to touch his head, and he ended up getting a haircut.

Let us reflect on God’s word in our life. Is our life aligned to that word?

You see, none of them received the word and sinned in the next line of their story. The deviation started as a question in Eve’s life, it started when King Solomon was old, it started after several visits to Delilah. And for the man of God, the deviation of God’s word came from the mouth of another prophet.

The deviation comes slowly, and before we know it we are knee deep in the mess that was not intended for us.

But, the story does not end there, Jesus Christ came to earth and revealed God because of the fall. Samson was heard by God in the end. And God is near to the brokenhearted.

No matter what, let us pursue our call, not giving heed to doubts, despair, accusations or anything that stands up between us and Christ.

His word is everything.
