Keep Calm
Dear Sisters in Christ,
Greetings to you all in Jesus’ name!!
Today I want to talk to you all about being calm. Off late, I find many others struggling hard to overcome hurdles, changes, criticism in life. I was reminded of the story we read in the Bible in Mark 4: 35-41 about Jesus calming the storm.
We all know how the story goes, Jesus goes with His disciples and suddenly there is a storm. Jesus was sleeping and the disciples woke him up. He said to the wind “Be Still” and the winds died down.
I would like to highlight a few things here from the story. Once the storm set in, the disciples would have held the sails, tried turning around or maybe some of them would have been working on trying to drain the water from the boat. Every wave that crashes on the boat leaves behind some water on the boat. So all the disciples did everything they could before they woke up Jesus. Many times in our life, we try to rescue our ship of life by being the captain of the ship or the crew sometimes. We play various roles in our life to handle things. Until things go out of our control, we try resolving it.
The next thing that we see is, when the disciples rush to find Jesus, he is sleeping peacefully in the stern. When Jesus wakes up the first thing they ask Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” They don’t explain the situation to Him, rather they ask if he doesn’t care what happens. We are the same as well when things crash in our lives and it is out of control, we cry out to Him asking why He has forsaken us or why has He let things get this bad. But it is us who tried to handle matters in a different way.
We read in the passage that Jesus got up and rebuked the winds saying “Be Still” and the wind died down. When we give the control to Him, he resolves the issue and we are back on track.
My dear sisters, when you are faced with some challenges in life, stay calm and run to our heavenly father, He will handle the situation for you much better than anyone else.
Let us not panic or get overwhelmed by the challenge we face instead witness through faith the Lord’s doing in our life.
In Him,
Sis Aaltiya David
