May Promise

May 6, 2018

A tale of two Warriors…..

Blessed be the name of the LORD who alone is truthful.

YAHWAH is HIS name.

HIS name is mightier than any name. “I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending”, saith the LORD which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”.  I praise GOD again to reach you through this column. May our LORD GOD bless you bountifully.

Some time back, as I was reading the life and times of the great king David whom our LORD has testified as “close to HIS heart, the name of “Joab” came across repeatedly many times intertwined with the turbulent life of King David. The name of Joab appears more than 130 times in the Holy Bible, which is a score more than that of some great prophets and the Lord’s disciples themselves. However as we read through, this great general and mighty warrior close to the heart of king David did not finish his life well.  In fact he is often referred as to “the fallen hero”. A life not to be lived.

As I was baffled and striving for the right answers and praying, the answer eluded me. The LORD answered me many months later when I was searching the Holy Bible for another child of God. “caleb” was the warrior equivalent to Joab in his might and truthfulness.  He was one of the handful of Israelites who endured all the travails of the long journey of 40 years through the wilderness to finally reach the promised land.  Caleb was truthful to the LORD till the end. That is why at a tender age of 85 years he claimed the mountain land and cleansed it of all its evil people which was called “Hebron” thereafter from where centuries later David established his kingdom on his return from exile. Caleb did not claim this piece of land for his generation but for HIS generation. That is why the LORD himself has testified about Caleb which HE has done on the rarest of occasions. Caleb while obeying the instruction of his bosses like Moses and Joshua, was always inclined to please and be truthful to the LORD which is witnessed through his life. The word of God says the generation of Caleb was also one of the generals in the King David’s Army…… Generations blessed…… King David also always remained truthful to the LORD with fear which is why he never retaliated against the Lord’s anointed King till his death (Saul) in war. King David was truthful and returned to seek mercy and grace even while he digressed and faltered from HIS ways. That is why the LORD said the light will not be shut down through his (King David) generations to come. Because HE is truthful. HE is truthful for ever.

As the Israelites were fighting the bitter war of 1973 (Yom Kippur war) a crucial tank division was trying to pierce through the enemy column to move into the enemy territory. But on the way, through the desert, they had to cross a place called “The Chinese farm” fortified with arms and ammunition and a great number of enemy tanks awaiting to engulf them in fire which they did.  A bitter and long war was fought through the night. As a surviving tank battalion officer remembers “his longest night” in his life…..“Behold HE that keepeth Israel shall never slumber nor sleep…” Even in that long night……..The victorious Israeli tank division moved on into the enemy land which brought a cease fire and ended the 1973 war. He ever remains a truthful LORD and never slumbers or sleeps, even today, for you……..

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I encourage you to look toward only to the cross and at HIS pierced feet, which has already won all our battles for us and shed all HIS blood for us, on the cross…….Be a  mighty prayer warrior for HIM and bend your knees for HIM and win the turbulent war……Because, HE that liveth in the City of Peace is ever truthful.

SHALOM.

Praise the LORD, Amen.

Yours in Christ,

Bro. Emmanuel
