What makes John the Baptist very special?
My young friend, I would like to share from the gospel book of
Luke chapter 1 verse 57,
“Now Elizabeth’s full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.”
If you know the importance of a person like John the Baptist for God’s kingdom you will be blessed by reading this post today.
John the Baptist was one in the many throughout the history of mankind who was chosen by the LORD before the foundations of the world. He was chosen for a few important reasons – to prepare the way for GOD’s only Son to enter the world. What a calling! John the Baptist was chosen by GOD to baptise the only SON of GOD- JESUS CHRIST which even fulfilled all righteousness.
GOD trusted John so much that HE picked John to baptise and prophecy over His SON.
What was special about John?
There are many mighty things written about John in the Bible but today I would like to just point of two things,
- John the Baptist had the hand of the LORD even when he was a baby. At 8 days of age, Luke 1:66 records that the hand of the LORD was with John. That was a secret.
- John the Baptist was baptized in the Holy Ghost before He was born – in his mother’s womb, Luke 1:15. That was another secret.
Here is the question- How many days did John the Baptist fast and pray to receive this? Or What did he do to receive this call on his life?
Though John lived a life of sacrifice almost since his birth to his last day- he paid a heavy price to fulfill the calling and to continue in the ministry he received from the LORD.
But, that was the price John paid when he grew up as in Luke 1:80– heavy price – (live in the dessert, dress in a very odd manner, eat the same meal all his life, no wine, and many more…)
But, what did John do to receive the above two blessings John had from his time of conception in his mother’s womb- to have the hand of GOD with him always and to be baptized by the Holy SPIRIT even before he was born? Because these two were the foundation by which John could become a prophet like John the Baptist.
John did not pray as he was not yet born. He did not fast. He did not do any other thing you think would have brought this calling upon him. It was not John.
The secret is Elizabeth.
My dear woman in Christ,
Read this carefully. Once again, not just one but many John the Baptists will rise before the second coming of the Messaiah to prepare a way but in order for Johns to be born- Elizabeths and Zechariahs must come together.
My friend, the price starts with you. Not with your son or daughter. If you want GOD to use them, you must pay the price. You should be the one to keep yourself away from wine- meaning, you should avoid wasting time with people who are living in vanity (including Christians who have no difference from the others with the only difference being attending Church on Sundays). Be careful with whom who mingle with, people whom you like to visit or spend a weekend- that’s what will get into you. Restrain from vanity (talks, TV shows, movies, other things) that will not help you become into the image of CHRIST.
Restraining yourself from vain things and giving all that time to GOD only can make you an Elizabeth.
It’s not as hard as you think. The reward is worth the price you pay. Do it cheerfully.
Be an Elizabeth.
If you want to be one, now is the time to make a decision.
Talk to the Holy SPIRIT now,
HE will never despise simple prayers if they are from a sincere heart.
Decide today and don’t quit pursuing your decision no matter what it costs you. Let not your decisions be chocked by thorns or eaten by birds or die because you lack a root.
The kingdom of GOD is waiting for such Elizabeths and Zechariahs.
