FEAR

Dear Sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. As you have noticed the title as “FEAR”, I am not referring to the fear of the world rather I want your focus to be on “FEAR OF THE LORD”.

HOW to understand the “Fear of the LORD”?

The Bible says in Proverbs 2:1-5 (read in tamil version as well – click here)

Proverb 2

1. 1. 1. 1. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
         2. So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
         3. Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
         4. If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
         5. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

WHY to focus on “Fear of the LORD”? 

As you are a child of GOD, you should fear the LORD to receive the knowledge.

Proverb 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (read in tamil version as well- click here)

Who gives wisdom and where is the knowledge and understanding comes from?

Proverb 2:6 says “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” (read in tamil version as well- click here)

What am I receiving when I fear the LORD?

You receive His delight which is very precious.

Psalms 147:10, 11 says

10) He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11) The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.

Fear of the LORD will show “how great our LORD is” and our love towards Him will be expanding and secure.

I conclude with the verse where David says in Psalm 2:11

“Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”
