Woman Leader
Greetings to all my precious ladies in the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
There is this famous verse which we often try to implicate in ourselves – “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30 and I hope that we would all live up to this great promise.
We live in a world where we hear so much about women empowerment and about breaking standards and the norms existing so men and women can be equal. So many videos just go viral in the media portraying about the endless chase for equality among the two genders.
I was just wondering how many times we’ve thought about women leaders in the Christian world? Even as many women are still being mightily used by the Lord in different areas of the world, the number is so insignificant in comparison to many established organisations where men take the lead.
Wondering if what I was thinking was even appropriate (i.e. about women being equal to men) is when this character in the Bible struck me. It’s about a woman named Deborah. God Almighty chose her to be the fourth judge over the land of Israel during the times when they had no king. The Bible says the children of Israel would come up to her for judgement (Judges 4:5). And that’s like wow!! Now this was during those ancient days when the scenario and the quality of life for women was in many constraints than what it is today but still the Bible says that Deborah was a prophetess and she judged Israel, God’s chosen people for forty long years! That’s equal to the time span the mighty King David ruled over Israel.
So what about us women now? Many a times we’re caught up too much with our own ideologies about not being able to make a difference because of many excuses – I’ve got my kids, I’ve got to cook for my family, I have to go to work, have night shifts, 36 hours duty!! etc, etc,. If we ever think that it was only women who were set free to do what they liked achieved greater for God’s kingdom then let me introduce to you about someone called Maria Woodworth Etter, a woman who took care of her sick daughter and yet brought thousands to Christ! She is called as the grandmother of the Pentecostal church.
What about Deborah Strong? An apostolic missionary who has tread into the darkest parts of the world, where no other humans have dared to venture, to preach the gospel.
So what about you, dear lady? If God has called you to be someone, then nothing can stop you from being that someone, no matter what, unless you draw barriers for yourself.
As the world is talking about women leaders in politics, culture, art, music, learning, science, etc,. let’s talk about making ourselves leaders in building God’s eternal kingdom. There’s nothing less that you cannot do as a woman than what God can do through a man! So break all your barriers and cry out to Him today to take you to your promised land to fulfil your destiny. May God be with you.
