All you need is a little more
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. John 20:1
Early in the morning when it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the place where Jesus’ body was buried. She was shocked to see the stone covering the tomb of Jesus moved away. She ran to His disciples and told what she saw. Peter and John ran to the tomb and saw the empty tomb and the Napkin, that was used to cover the body of Jesus, wrapped together in one place and then they believed.
“Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. John 20:10”
Even after the disciples went back with the happy news, Mary Magdalene still stood there with a desire to know “where is Jesus!”
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb John 20:11
She stood there still and was weeping with a desire to see Jesus. And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. She was not amazed or overwhelmed seeing the angels. Her heart was still fixed in finding Jesus. She told the angels,
They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him. John 20:13
Dear sisters in Christ,
By quoting the above incident from the Bible, I would like to encourage you into a new way of prayer.
- Unlike most of the people, do NOT stop your prayer, when it is answered.
- Do not be carried away or overwhelmed by the visions or supernatural experiences that you have in your prayer life.
- But continue to focus your desire on Jesus and Him alone.
What did Mary Magdalene get out of such a prayer!
Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing. John 20:14
That’s the reward. You will have Jesus standing before you in your prayer. He will not just stand before you, but He will
- Call you by your name.
- Share His heart about what He is going to do then.
- Send you as His messenger to His people to share His Gospel.
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:16-17
It’s a little more that you need in your prayer life. When everyone, even the great disciples of Jesus, stops their prayer life in one point, I encourage you to tarry a little more in prayer. He will be found by you. Oh! What a blessed promise.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 29:13-14
