Truth
Dears in Christ,
We from God’s love missions wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
Today let us look on what is Truth.
We all expect truth in our relationship with each other. We have truth as a basis for all our interactions. And, there is an indomitable yearning for truth within each one of us. We are offended when we are lied to. We are offended when we are given false information. A philosopher begins his book like this, “Supposing truth is a woman – what then? Are there not grounds for the suspicion that all philosophers, insofar as they were dogmatists, have been very inexpert about women? That the gruesome seriousness, the clumsy obtrusiveness with which they have usually approached truth so far have been awkward and very improper methods for winning a woman’s heart?“ This was to show the exclusive and elusive nature of truth. We all can argue like the blind men who when asked to describe the elephant, described what they actually thought an elephant was when they touched it, till a man comes along the way and says “All of you were right, The reason every one of you is telling it differently is because each one of you touched the different part of the elephant. So, actually the elephant has all the features you mentioned”
Jesus, in His discourse makes no qualm in telling directly to the people that He is the Truth. He is an embodiment of truth. A perfection in an imperfect world. Apart from Him, we are left with falsehood about ourselves. There is no truth apart from Jesus Christ. It is not a coincidence that everyone throughout the history is in search for the truth, one way or the other. God had subjected the truth in Jesus Christ.
Our response to this truth will be a deciding factor on how we respond to this life on earth. Winston Churchill is quoted to have said “Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but they pick themselves up and hurry off”
A long time ago, two criminals hanging in the cross, had Jesus hung between them. All the three were dying, But one of them recognized the truth and asked of God to be remembered when he comes in His kingdom.
Pilate, in the trial of Jesus, asks Jesus “What is truth?” and walks away.
It is quite easy to be a normal Christian. But to let the truth take complete sovereignty over you, is a different thing. This new year, pray and ask Jesus to come and take complete control of your life. Submit to Him and let Him have dominance over every part of your life.
No one who had given their life to Jesus had ever walked away with a sense of loss.
May God bless you!
