Provision in Abundance
Dear sisters in Christ, Many a times we come across this feeling, “will we be able to manage the expenses this month?” Or “It’s the time of the year to pay the annual insurance” or “one more week just has to pull through till we get paid”. We all know we have a provider, our Jehovah Jireh. We claim verses from the Bible saying God will never leave us nor forsake us, His grace is sufficient in my life. We sing Jehovah Jireh my provider; my life is in You Lord, etc. to calm our mind and soul. But do we practice faith in our life? It’s something for each one of us to ponder about.
We do all the above said things but there are times we are stressed thinking about the load on our shoulders. We hope something would change and our life would be different.
I would like to remind you about the widow who met Elisha and poured out her challenges in 2 Kings 4:1-7. When she sees Elisha, she runs to him and tells him that her husband went to be with the Lord and the money lenders are asking her to clear debt.
Elisha calmly asks her how he can help her and what she has in her home. Clearly she wouldn’t have expected Elisha to ask her the above questions.
She said to Elisha that she did not have anything except for a little oil.
Elisha asked her to collect jars from neighbours, lock the door behind her and her family and pour the oil into the jars.
The oil kept flowing till all the jars were full. They were filled with joy and told Elisha what happened.
Elisha now tells the widow to sell the oil which helped her clear the debts.
Similarly, we ignore the small things in life and focus on the problem. Even though she knew she had only a little oil, she obeyed the instructions and poured the oils into the jars. We do need to take a leap in faith to overcome our situations.
From now on let’s overcome our financial situation with God’s help. He is the provider and let’s remind ourselves the same.
Also you are not the only one with financial constraints. Everyone has some or the other constraints that they are capable of handling. We are all into this together and we will overcome with Our Jehovah Jireh’s help. Amen.
Prayer
Our dear Heavenly Father, we commit us and our families into Your hands. Bless the work of our hands and bless the oil of our house. May we grow more in faith and love. We look up to You for Your guidance in all aspects of our life. In Jesus name, amen!
