Live according to the word of God
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:26-27
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:21-22
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
James, an apostle tells that the Word of God has power to save the soul. But we are reading such a Word of truth so emptily. We think that only reading the Bible is Christian life and we are deceived so.
One who reveals Christ in his life is a Christian.
James speaks about the pure and faultless godliness in this way, to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. This is the true godliness in the sight of Christ.
Jesus Christ being revealed in our life is the true godliness. It is not true godliness to expect God’s hand by simply crying to Him “Lord! Lord!”
We have to show Jesus Christ in our works. Today’s Christianity is being deceived. Living a life just attending the church services is becoming godliness. Beloved, let us live our life with the godliness that Christ showed us.
And James tells more that do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves but do what it says. Let us examine ourselves. Today’s Christian life is just in hearing the word of God. James tells that we are deceived. Let us be the one who does according to the word of God. In Christ Jesus, let us change ourselves.
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psamls 107:19-20
Yes, the word of God heals us and delivers us out of our destructions. And in Psalms 119:1, the Bible says, “Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.”
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. Psalms 1:2
Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded. Proverbs 13:13
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. Proverbs 28:9
Bible tells that the prayers that are calling, “Lord! Lord!” but walks not according to the word of God are an abomination. And in Proverbs 29:18 the Bible tells, “Blessed is he who keeps the law.”
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Proverbs 30:5
Let us draw near to God and live according to His word. And in Psalms 94:17 the Bible tells, “Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.”
All these days the Lord had protected us in safety. Let us draw near to Him alone. Let us change to be a person who does according to the word of God. Then our own eyes will see the revival in our nation. May the Lord bless us more and more, amen.
