True Deliverance
In Matthew 6:13, the Lord Jesus teaches His disciples to pray to His Father, “…but deliver us from the evil one.” Most of us pray to the Lord Jesus Christ for deliverance from sins, addictions and sickness and from the works of the evil one. The deliverance truly lies in the world of the Living God. When He utters a Word for your deliverance, you are delivered instantly and wholly. There deliverance that comes from the Lord Jesus Christ is not in part but a whole.
In Matthew 8:5-13, we read the passage where a centurion comes to meet Jesus for his servant to be delivered of the sickness. When Jesus was about to go with the centurion to heal the sick man, the centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. Matthew 8:8”. Jesus being marveled at the faith of the centurion said, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And the word of the Lord records the deliverance as, “And his servant was healed at that moment. Matthew 8:13”.
But what is after the deliverance? Is that all? Is everything set perfect for the soul to reach the kingdom of God in the end? No. That’s not all. Deliverance is Instant, as the word of the Lord comes to you. But to live and taste the fruit of the deliverance and to stand victorious on the day of the Lord, it is a must to hold on to the word of the Lord and walk in His commandments. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word. Psalms 119:9”.
Jesus found a sick and an invalid man in the Bethesda pool. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” When he was complaining about his situations and disabilities, Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” The man was delivered instantly as the words of the Lord Jesus reached him. But the Bible says in John 5:14, Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”
We read in John 8:3- about the women who was caught in the adultery. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” Jesus never replied a word to them. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” He never let the people judge her for her sins. She never knew that Jesus could deliver her. But when Jesus spoke to her saying, “neither do I condemn you”, she was delivered completely from the clutches of her sins. But Jesus never stopped at that. He said,
“Go, and sin no more”
This is the command that Jesus left to us once he delivered us. Obeying His command every day is the key for the True Deliverance.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, we ask you in Jesus name for the Holy Spirit to abide in us forever to help us obey your commands and live in your blessing, the True Deliverance. Amen.
