Reading God’s word completely
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. – Proverbs 15:32
My Brother and Sister in Christ, Greetings to you in His blessed name!
Reading the word of God is important. You might have heard this over and over again. Today, let me tell you that reading the word of God completely is very important. I would like to emphasis the word “completely” in my last sentence to you as this is my message for you today and I believe in the Lord that it will be a blessing to you.
Many a times, even those who read the bible everyday or use day planners or year planners to read their bible neglect a few Chapters or sometimes a few books of the Bible. Let me tell you the books I did not like to read or the books which I neglected because I felt they were very boring to me even when I had a thirst to read the Bible. They were very few books like the first and second Chronicles, Numbers, Leviticus and a few others like them. Through the years I have felt and realised that ignoring these books or even a chapter of the Bible may lead to misery. Let me give you a small example, just one instance from the many that I have personally missed out and also the Holy Saints themselves in the Bible. If you are wise you will take this seriously before the devil can trick you into pain.
When we read Judges chapter 14, the whole chapter is about Samson’s marriage. Samson was a judge (God’s representative or a prophet) chosen by God to deliver God’s people, lead them in the right ways and so on and Samson was a very good judge. This shows me that He knew and must have read the experiences of Joshua, Moses, and the stories about Noah and all the rest that happened before Him. Samson was a Godly person, He was a mighty man and had the Spirit of God come upon Him at times and He would glorify the living God of Israel. But this same Samson in Chapter 14, when he was going to see his future wife, he was hindered by a lion on the way which came to kill him. The Spirit of God came mightily upon him and he simply tore the lion apart. What a great victory! What a joy! I think Samson tore the lion into two just like how the river Jordan and the Red sea parted. Samson was victorious and went and met his future wife and his parents were also with him. Sometime later, when it was time for him to get married he again went through the same place and saw the lion’s dead body with some honey and bees on it. Samson must have remembered how the Spirit filled him and anointed him to tear this lion apart and took victory. So he went near and ate the honey that was on the lion’s body, and also took some for his parents to eat and they also ate it and the same chapter continues to say that he got married. But, my brother and sister, the same Chapter ends with a sad part where he loses his wife forever. He lost God’s blessing (Judges 14:4,20). Now, there might be a few reasons behind this, but I want you to know and realise one possible reason behind this. Samson who knew about the Red sea parting and Jordan parting did not or I think probably missed reading Leviticus 11:27 “Of all the animals that walk on all fours, those that walk on their paws are unclean for you; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.” Samson fell to the cunning work of the enemy in no time by not only touching the lion’s dead body but also eating the honey with his parents and lost his life simply because he did not follow the instruction of God or because he despised the instruction of God.
My dearest friend, let us learn lessons earlier in life that we may not lose what the Almighty will give as a blessing to us. I can write a few other instances to make my post strong but I stop just with one, praying that you and I will be wise. Let us learn from the mistakes of the saints and let us not repeat it. Read the Bible completely. Do not miss out Books or Chapters. Give no space for the devil to attack you. Take a decision today to read all the books of the Bible. May God bless you and your family and all that your hand does.
Glory be to His Holy Name – ‘JESUS’. Amen.
Prayer
Father,
Forgive me for neglecting your words of wisdom. Help me to read your word completely without missing anything. I pray and believe that my life is in your precious hands to protect me. I take this time to surrender my life completely into your loving hands and I mean every letter of the word ‘surrender’. I surrender my life to you Lord! Take complete control of my life Lord.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
