Choosing Christ

December 25, 2015

Let us choose for ourselves what is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good. Job 34:4

Christmas! A season that fills our home with the Spirit of Joy. When the calendar hits the day one of December, it makes everybody expect and plan for the upcoming festival, holidays and the New Year. Every shop in the street covers itself with the series of glittering bulbs and glowing balls. Smiling so bright and big in red and white we can find Santa Claus everywhere with a sack full of gifts. New and colorful stars can be found lighted in every home. This is the start of the season of celebration.

A family get together, visiting the home town, hanging out with friends or enjoying the holiday trip would be our plans in this Christmas season. At this time, I remember a story that gave me a new thought. Once in a kingdom, the king sent a message to his people that the next day at a specified time the palace will open for all the people to come in. And as they come in, the first thing that anyone will touch in the palace will be their own from then on. All the people in the country were fascinated and got themselves ready the next day to enter the palace. When the door was opened, people rushed in to the palace and everyone was searching for a bigger object to take hold of them. Many touched the golden statues, and few took the silver apparels and so on. And the king was on his throne watching. The king noticed a strange thing among that. He saw a kid standing there not wanting anything. The king called the kid and asked him, “Do you not need any of these gold and silver for you?” To the king’s surprise the kid replied, “No! I don’t need them. You love your people so much that you give them anything they wanted. You are so good and loving. I just wanted to stay with you.” Hearing this from the child, the king couldn’t hold his tears. He hugged the kid and told him and the whole congregation, “This is the happiest moment of my life. Out of all the riches, wealth and fantasies of this palace, this kid chose me. This is the greatest of all the victories that I got in my life.”

This story urged me in my heart to choose Christ Jesus in my life over anything in the whole world. I realized that I become His delight and pleasure when I choose Him.

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10.

Dears in Christ, remember to choose Christ in all the ways of your life. Wish you a Merry and Meaningful Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
