Perfect sacrifice in Perfect Hands
“….you shall not allow the salt of your covenant to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.” Leviticus 2: 13
“…and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.” Mark 9: 49
It was so traumatizing to walk amidst that unusual silence. The silence of the quiet suffering of scores of people from the aged to the young. This is being part of a Christian medical school. We went from room to room enquiring and praying. The things that we saw – a helpless mother by her tender child’s bedside, poverty had thrown him into the clutches of tuberculosis. On the other hand a doctor himself, now a victim to the deadly accident he met with. “Why Lord?” was what our hearts mourned. And to think that the precious tears of these beloved ones go unanswered. Tired and worn out we returned back to our hostels.
That night I came across the encounter of a girl with our dear Lord Jesus. It left me quite stunned. She wrote:
“I was sitting with my book opened in front of me, bitterly weeping for no reason I could possibly think of. Wondering why profusely tears were coming out of my eyes, I tried to wipe them away in haste before anybody at home could notice me. And strangely my fingers started to burn. I then remembered myself getting cut that morning and that the salty tears were having its action on my wounded fingers. But just then, I heard a voice – the voice of my dearest friend, the Holy Spirit, say to me, “Do you now know why your tears are precious before Him?” And then I had the glorious vision of my dear Lord Jesus with torn flesh from head to foot, beaten, wounded and bleeding before me. The Holy Spirit continued, “Every time your tears fall on His hands, it hurts much, He knows the very essence of it.”
Quietly pondering over this I then realized that the people I had met few hours ago were giving their perfect sacrifice into the perfect hands.
Dear friend, we hardly realized that those salty tears you tasted as a kid were signs of perfect sacrifice that He had kept in you. If you have lately been on your knees where there weren’t words to describe your sorrow but your tears were the only source of communication to Him, let me assure you that you’ve given the perfect sacrifice into His perfect hands. As mentioned in Isaiah 53:4 “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…”. You’re never alone on the path you are traversing right now and all the precious tears you shed before Him are never in vain. Whatever may be the reason that is causing sorrow to your heart now, you do have a true friend who gave His life for you on the cross and assures you in His word that, surely there is an end and that your expectation shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18). Wait on the Lord for He alone knows the very essence of your tears. And the secret of you sowing in tears and reaping in joy is not your very tears alone but His wounds that can feel it.
Glorious days are ahead of you and He is waiting to bless you and make you a blessing. Amen.
