Wise Woman

November 13, 2015

Every wise woman buildeth her house. Proverbs 14:1

A wise woman builds her house on Jesus, the foundation of her house, whom she had accepted as Christ, the rock of her salvation. And since the house is strong with Jesus as its foundation, it remains unshakeable even in adverse situations. As the wise woman builds her house with her gentle fruits of the Spirit such as, “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-control” as the bricks, no disservice can crouch into her home. Her prayers are like the roof to her house, and so no sufferings or misery which are like the heat and cold, can come near to her and her household.

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matthew 7:25

Let us meditate about a wise woman from the Bible. In 2 Samuel chapter 20 we read that Joab and his men were following a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, son of Bichri, a Benjamite and they besieged him in Abel of Bethmaachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down. Knowing that something bad is about to happen to the city, a wise woman called from the city, “Listen! Listen! Tell Joab, ‘Come here, that I may speak to you.’” And he came near her, and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Listen to the words of your servant.” And he answered, “I am listening.” Then she said, “They used to say in former times, ‘Let them but ask counsel at Abel,’ and so they settled a matter. I am one of those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the heritage of the Lord?” When Joab heard it, he replied her that to destroy the city was not his intention, but he was in search of Sheba, son of Bichri. Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. Joab and his men returned back without harming the city. If in the brave act of a wise woman a city was saved, then if we women are wise in our household, our church, our city and our country will be protected. May God bless you according to Proverbs 31:28-29, “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’”

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6
