Living in Fellowship
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Every one of us war against the flesh daily to live a Christian life. Many finish the day victorious with the help of God’s word and His spirit. But many fall to the wicked fangs of the evil. Such failures gain power over one’s life and slowly take them away from God. For one to win over this trap of the devil, God has ordained Churches and Fellowships. God wants us to be together and live in fellowship, ultimately sharing each others’ burdens both physical and spiritual. Praying and worshiping God together, helps someone who is broken in spirit, to break open the brokenness and reach the hand of God. Fellowship spreads the joy of the Lord and it is the place where the Lord’s works begin and reaches the needy in the world.
Apart from prayer and worship, there are few other things that play key roles in fellowship. They are, understanding and accepting each other, guiding each other in words and in deeds, trusting each other, making someone realize their weakness and helping them to win over their weakness and many more. Here’s a small story about four oxen. They were good friends who lived in jungle. A lion in the jungle wanted to hunt these oxen for its prey. But these oxen would chase the lion every day, fighting together. The lion found that as long as they live together it is impossible to hunt them and decided to break their friendship. The lion visited each ox separately and told false accusation about the other three oxen. Believing the lion’s words, the oxen fought among themselves and never lived together. Then the lion hunted all four oxen easily.
This story is a shadow of the reality in most of our fellowships. The devil always tries to separate us from fellowships and from gathering together either by bringing hatred among each other or by making one feel guilty of one’s own sinful life. Knowing this wicked plan of the evil one, let us be rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ and in the fellowship that the Lord has gifted us so that we might save ourselves and many from falling apart.
Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13.
Prayer
Dear Lord, as much as I take part in the table of the Lord, help me also to take part in the burden of others who carry the cross and follow You. I ask this to you Lord in Jesus name. Amen.
