Blessed Salvation

August 1, 2015

God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.

God is Love. But, how do we say that God is Love when He is going to throw the people whom He had made in His image into hell fire? We say that because He had already prepared a way for all to escape the eternal suffering. Is God “Love” to sinners and the wicked too? Yes! God had demonstrated His love to all, irrespective of the morality of their life, on the cross by giving His Son Jesus Christ as a sacrifice.

A story goes like this, two friends Sam and Jason joined in a university to learn Law. Sam put all his effort and made use of all the available opportunity and went on to become a successful Lawyer. But Jason associated himself with bad companions and finally ended as a failure in his career. Years went by, Sam became the Chief Justice of his state. One day he was asked to attend and pass a judgement for a criminal case. He was shocked to see that the accused was his friend Jason. He was a drunkard and a thief. He was accused of robbery and attempt to murder. After reviewing the case, Sam called the court to declare his judgement. Everyone was awaiting Sam’s judgement against his friend. To everyone’s surprise, Sam passed the highest penalty possible, against Jason. Though Sam loved his friend, the position that he is holding did not allow Sam to be partial to his friend. But what he did after passing the judgement, defined his love for his friend. After the judgement, Sam stepped down from his seat and removed his coat, took his cheque book and paid all the money that was announced as the penalty to let his friend go free.

God is Righteous and Just. He is a light against whom darkness cannot prevail. His holiness and glory would not allow Him to tolerate the sin that His people are living in. In His holiness He declared the judgement against the wicked and the evil. But the act of God on the cross of Calvary defines His love for the entire mankind. He left all His glory and power and came to this world as a human being and was obedient to the end to lay down His life for the sins of everyone. He paid the ransom for all and let them have the Salvation and Freedom. Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him (Hebrews 9:28). For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22). Believe in Jesus Christ and be blessed in His gift of salvation.
