Waiting at JESUS’s feet
Dear Sister in Christ,
It is not only important to spend time praying and asking God to answer those requests of yours but it is also equally important to wait at God’s feet where He can begin to change you and show you the ways of solution to your problems. Most married women become really busy, mainly in developed cities where they not only take care of their husband, children, cleaning the whole house and cooking for the entire family but also go to work the whole day or you might be one of those few blessed to stay home after marriage or you are not yet married, whichever category you fall in, it is important to wait at the feet of JESUS.
The bible clearly shows certain responsibilities that are in particular for women. Though the responsibility is equally divided amongst all in a family, still there are verses which emphasise certain responsibility on women, as the following verse says “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” (Proverbs 14:1)
I would like to share three reasons why it is not only important that you pray when you go to work, or when you cook but it is important to wait at God’s feet setting aside your work in your busy schedule.
- Your Heart’s desire will become doing God’s will
You might think, well my heart’s desire is still in doing God’s will even though I do not wait at God’s feet as I used to. Dear Sister, you have to think once again and do it again until you accept that waiting at His feet is different and does make a difference which is very important. The world does pull us everyday into its various mesmerisations. Even without your knowledge your heart changes, if not completely it happens slowly which is dangerous. The bible says doing God’s will is being wise. This is the definition the bible gives us for the ‘being wise’. You being a woman need a lot of wisdom to build your house and to grow your children in good spiritual values. When you seek God early, once you get up from your bed, God will fill you with wisdom not only for that day but also to make plans that will build the future of the family. As you know ‘today’s decision is tomorrow’s happiness’. If you need a better future, better family life, kneel down today and wait at Jesus’s feet.
- You choose the good part which shall not be taken from you (Luke 10:42)
Mary the sister of Lazarus loved the Lord and loved to be at His feet. The Lord Himself said that she has chosen the good part that cannot be taken from her. You might say, “God will understand my situation and He is seeing how busy I am and it is a must that I do these works. He knows that I love Him and I am still praying when I cook or do my other duties.” Dear Sister, Jesus taught the whole world a difference between Mary’s act and Martha’s act. If you remember the story well, Martha also spoke to Jesus when she was cooking, but that did not match what Mary did. With all the hard work you put in everyday in doing so many things which are very important, it becomes your responsibility to find time to pray – waiting at your Lord’s feet.
- Wisdom of words
As you might know, most families face difficult times fighting within themselves and lose their peace and joy at home mainly because they spoke a word or few words that they could have avoided. Later, when they try to resolve the issue and see where the problem was, it was the words they used. You a woman can just solve certain issues that might break the peace in the family with just a few wise words or make it worse with some unwise words. There is a funny story where a husband and a wife had quarrels almost every day and they themselves got sick of it and wanted to change this. So the wife approached a magician asking his help to solve the problem. He gave her a bottle of water and said, “This water has some magic in it. So, the moment your husband asks a question or starts something that you think might lead you both to a quarrel or arguments, you immediately pour some of this water in your mouth and do not swallow it until your husband becomes silent.” So she came home and followed this and it began working. She thought to herself, ‘even though I had to give this magician some money to get this water, the magic works’. Every time her husband would start something in a wrong way, she would fill her mouth with water and there will be no quarrel that day. Only years later she realised her foolishness that there was no magic in the water but since she had her mouth filled with water it kept her from answering back to her husband which has stopped most of the quarrels. This is just a funny story. You need not fill your mouth with water but if you wait at God’s feet, God will fill your mouth with words of wisdom which will not only stop quarrels but also turn the hearts of your husband and children to the Lord in a very short time and bring abundant blessings to your family.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Help me to spend time waiting at your feet. Give me the wisdom and strength to plan my time in such a way that I can spend some time at your feet. Lord, you see my heart and it is my desire to do this. Please Lord, help me. Thank you for all the divine blessings you have given me, my family and my dear ones. Continue to be with us Lord. Amen.
