The Conqueror….
Years roll on….generation after generations of life roll on…. The cast away of the yesteryears has become the geek of today virtually controlling everything around through a simple computer program. The explosion of industrial revolution, electric power, mechanics, electronics and evolution of computers has made possible, total control of the virtual world. The current explosion of communication revolution has demolished the time barrier and enables seeing everything in real time. Probably Nietzsche’s surrealistic world has propped up in real life by these technological revolutions seemingly giving authority over everything to the human species making him omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Remember the “eye” of the satellite networks which can virtually see anything on earth real time… The web net works which enables to browse any system on the earth…The powerful cloud computing tools…..The world virtually reduced to a finger top through the smart phone…. So it appears……
As the hapless world watched over television, giant tsunami waves struck across nations destroying flora and fauna and even a big nuclear facility was reduced to a rumble…. Still it remains an unfathomable code of el nino interlinking the flopping of a butterfly and rise of giant storms across the continents thousands of miles away….. Poverty, unemployment, wars, chaos rage on across nations despite development and prosperity…… New physiological races and mutant drug resistant strains emerge challenging the healthcare fraternity…… At the moment of typing this script, somewhere guns are roaring, innocent civilians killed, religious sects fight against each other, houses destroyed and an angry drone takes revenge on a rebel leader and a missile launched miles away from a ship hits with accuracy to the level inches the desired enemy target….. O peace, happiness and delight, where art thou?
The advent of industrial revolution and technology in the hands of selfish, narrow minded polity over years has created a dual society: pockets of few valueless societies with mighty economic prosperity and on the other side, large masses of inward looking economically underdeveloped societies. The school of welfare economics has disappeared and it appears we live to work and not otherwise. The innocence of childhood, the evening play and comics and magazines have all disappeared giving way for smart phone war games and academic studies to excel among the peer group. I still remember the innocence of childhood of yesteryears, reading comics like “sankaranum gingaranum “ in Ananda Vikatan ( a tamil weekly), or the large edition of The Illustrated Weekly of India – enjoying in every edition the “The painter of signs” by the great doyen R K Narayan accompanied by equally immortal drawings of R K Lakshman…The memorable every day prayers and taking dinner together as a family , laughing and the banter all disappeared, to the present day eery silence watching your favourite programme on the television….
It is true that science and technology has revolutionized the (physical) way in which we live providing innumerable ways of comforts of life. But has it provided the final answer to all the issues, questions and problems of human life, sought by thinkers and philosophers. Or has it effectively digressed the issues taking away even the little faith and values in us, questioning all the values of life including God.
About three decades back, during bachelor days , I had a good friend who was a very charming , handsome and captive boy, always well mannered and in every sense of it, the real prince…He had an impeccable dress code, and the stubble of the beard never appeared. The shoes were neatly polished. It is no wonder that as a young officer and a gentleman, a timely marriage was arranged and as any story ends “They lived happily ever after…” But it was not to be….. Shortly thereafter, one day I was shocked to hear that he committed suicide and apparently, no cause of any stress, economic or otherwise. Today also I ponder upon sadly to fathom the real reason for such a fine young gentleman to decide to end his life. Newspapers / TV carry every day such shocking stories of children / youngsters/ even adults taking such extreme steps for trivial things such as failure in exam / being upbraided by parents etc.,
During childhood, I have heard the story of a mighty warrior who went on a great white horse to conquer the world….The story never ended as to what really happened to this great warrior…May be he ended like Alexander the Great or Napoleon….I really do not know. Today also parents run behind their children to re conquer their lost wars in their childhood. However, problems galore and even after a successful career for ourselves and even after the children are well settled executives, a large vacuum haunts inside us, always keeping us in a surreal suspended animation of uncertainty. Today’s world, old age homes are flooded with senior citizens who are unhappy and feel abandoned even after all this achievements and conquering the world. Can we conquer life? Can we conquer all the evils seen above and bring in abundant peace? Can this anomaly of cannibalism of brother rising up against brother and nation against nation ever stop? Can we stop all evils of life like the spirit of defeat, diseases, poverty and such chaos?
Jesus said, I am the way, truth and life (The Holy Bible: John 14:6).
Yes, Jesus Christ is the answer.
Because He is the real conqueror (of life). Because He has won over sin (brought by satan and our disobdedience) by shedding His own blood and by His death on the cross for each one of us. He conquered death and rose again on the third day. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.”(John 10:14). Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and life: he that believeth in me though he were dead, yet he shall live” (John 11: 25).
Yes, Jesus Christ is The Conqueror and is The Answer.
Whenever we are down (because of the satan is a liar) and are at the depths of misery, if we look forward to Jesus, he will lift us.
Because His mercy endureth for ever.
His name is Immanuel (God is with us)
His name shall be called the Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6).
He is El chai – The living God (Deuteronomy 5: 24)
He is El kanah – The Jealous God (Exodus 34: 14)
He is El Hannum – The Merciful God (Deuteronomy 4: 31)
He is El Avraham Yitzak Yacov – He is the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob (Exodus 3:15).
He is the creator of all things (Nehemiah 9:6)
He is the Governor of all things (Psalms 135:6)
His works are unsearchable (Ecclesiastes 8:17)
He is The deliverer, redeemer and our conqueror.
Today also He says:
“For I am the LORD”
(Exodus 12 : 12)
Jesus is The Conqueror.
He is the ultimate answer.
