It shall come to pass
Praise to God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit.
“And Jesus walked in the temple, in the Solomon’s porch”. (John 10: 23)
Greetings to all my precious friends in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We read in Acts 3: 2 that there was a man who was lame from birth. He was seated on the ground near the gate called Beautiful situated in a porch called Solomon’s. We know about the miraculous healing the lame man received through Peter and John in the name of Jesus. The people who witnessed this supernatural event ran to Peter and John to the porch called Solomon’s (Acts 3: 11). They were amazed because in Acts 3: 2 it is mentioned that this man was seated at this Beautiful gate EVERYDAY begging. The chapter goes on to say that Peter explained that this miracle was due to the faith that they had in the name of Jesus.
Often we see the good news that Peter carried or the miracle that happened to this lame man but let me take you to a truth that is often hidden and forgotten. This man was placed everyday at this gate in that porch and not less than a few years ago did Jesus cross that exact spot Himself. As written in John 10: 23 “And Jesus walked in the temple, in the Solomon’s porch”. The lame man was there even when this healing God in whose name Peter and John claimed to heal, passed by. Jesus who healed many (Matthew21: 14, Luke 4: 40, Mark 1: 34, John 5: 13) overlooked this poor man.
He (Jesus) had but one reason for this. He had chosen the Peter who said “And to whom shall we go Lord?” and the John who followed Him till the cross to do the miracle in His name.
My friend are you like the Peter who stuck to Jesus when the other disciples forsook Him (John 6: 66-68) and like John who followed Him till the end and now in confusion and turmoil because the situation around you seems to take you far away from God’s plan? Be of good cheer, we serve a God who never forgets us. Neither Peter nor John knew that the temple and lame man their Master crossed would be the very place they would cross and the person they would heal.
Sometimes we feel God has completely forgotten the plan He framed for us and told us. But let me tell you, when you were just a kid of nine or ten playing with your friends at school in the science class hidden from your teacher’s eyes not knowing in the least that there was your Heavenly Father looking at you with His tender and compassionate heart, waiting for His time to fulfil His plan in your life. God did not plan this healing incident when Peter and John received the gift of the Holy Spirit but even before their eyes were opened to the scriptures. Similarly God did not plan the thought that he had for you when you first came to the reality of salvation or when you told Him “I love You Lord”. Remember He is a God who knew you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1: 5) and He knew His works of old.(Ephesians 1:4)
Remember Jesus walked by that lame man silently into the temple that day with the simple joy of a father knowing that one day His children Peter and John would heal that lame man in His name for glory of God the Father through the Holy Spirit.
Friend! Don’t lose heart when you feel far from God’s plan for that is not the truth. He assures you in Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the thoughts that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” He knew you and is waiting for you from a time even before you knew Him. At any cost don’t give upon Jesus. He has numbered the very hairs of your head and calls you by name. HE LOVES YOU.
Remember Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13: 8)
You can count on HIM. Amen.
